On the road again - Park City, UT

Ask anyone who has to travel for a living, and they’ll tell you the most airports, offices, and hotel rooms all look the same after a while.  But every now and then, you get to go to somewhere really pretty and actually have a little time to enjoy it.  This last week, I got the opportunity to travel to Park City, UT for a week long manager planning session.  We also happened to have a number of engineers there as well attending training.

The setting was gorgeous.  This was my first trip to Park City, my 3rd ever to the Salt Lake area.  It was simply gorgeous.  It was still early yet for the ski season so the slopes that had snow had man-made snow.  But that changed Thursday when 3 inches fell and the area began to take on its winter coat.  We stayed at the Stein Eriksen lodge in Deer Valley.  Talk about 1st class accomodations.  The resort is a 5 star resort and it’s well deserved.  Everything was beautiful and the service was 1st class.  On Thursday afternoon, we managed to take a break and sneak out to the see the women’s qualification runs for the skeleton world cup.  The opportunity to see world-class athletes hurl themselves down a mountain at speeds over 70 mph (face first I might add) was really fun.  The track allowed us to get up close and personal as they flew by literally feet from us.

Please click on the picture above to be taken to my online gallery of all the shots.  All I took for this trip was my Canon point & shoot.  I loved the convenience but did miss my SLR at times - mainly for the wide angle and fast-action shots.  But other than that - you just have to learn to work with what you have!  Enjoy!
